Joan Egan Herlong has written “Life in the Slow Lane” for The Journal since the paper started publishing in 1999. She and her husband, William, an attorney and school board member, have lived in Greenville for over 15 years. She has been selling residential real estate full time for Prudential C. Dan Joyner since 1993, and has been the company's top solo producer for several years running. Originally from Winnetka, Ill., Joan was the 11th of 12 children. She earned a BA in English from the University of Virginia. Joan has worked at CNN as a newswriter, at two advertising agencies and as a freelance business writer. The Herlongs have four children and are members of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She serves on the board of the Greenville Free Medical Clinic, and looks forward to serving on the board of the Warehouse Theatre. joan@augustaroad.com.
