Mark B. Johnston
is co-founder, president and CEO of Community Journals. Prior to joining The Journal, Johnston was vice president of advertising at The Greenville News, a position he held from 1994 to January 1999. Before moving to Greenville,
Johnston was director of marketing with Suburban Journals of Greater St. Louis,
a large weekly community newspaper operation publishing 47 editions with a total
circulation of 950,000 per week. From 1981 until 1993, Johnston was employed at
the Kansas City Star, starting as a business product manager and rising to the position of retail
advertising manager. Johnston is a graduate of the University of Kansas and earned
his MBA degree from Rockhurst College.
